The whole Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding thing is still one of the wildest sports stories of all time to me.
He was ultimatelyfound guiltyand sentenced to life in prison.
After being accused of murdering Lloyd, he was alsoaccusedof killing two men in 2012.

He waslater acquittedof those murders, though days later, he died by suicide in prison.
2.Hernandez isn’t the only athlete accused of murder.
He was ultimately (and infamously) acquitted, though a civil suit found him liable for the deaths.

Harding denied all involvement and was stillallowedto compete in the Olympics that summer, finishing eighth.
However, she later stood trial for her role in hindering the following investigation.
She did not receive jail time, but the U.S.

Figure Skating Association banned her for life.
She went on to have ashort careerin boxing.
He then admitted to the claims in 2013.

His endorsements disappeared, though an early investment in Uber kept the Armstrong family on their feet.
8.Nigerian track and field star Blessing Okagbare also saw her career ruined by doping allegations.
However, shewas bannedfrom participating after failing multiple drug tests in the summer of 2021.

Her ban wasultimatelyextended to eleven years, meaning she will be in her late forties when it ends.
Based on theusual agesof track and field athletes, it’s unlikely she will compete in future Olympics.
Still, no teamwouldsign him, and he has not played professionally since.

It’s possible he could return after his prison time, but that’s highly unlikely.
11.Rae Carruth was also arrested on serious charges just a few years into his professional football career.
He was arrested, dropped from the Panthers, and suspended from the NFL.

He was eventually released in 2018 but has stayed out of the public eye since then.
12.Let’s move on to some more recent examples.
The MLB has opened an investigation into Franco, and he is currently on leave during the case.

13.24-year-old San Diego Padres player Tucupita Marcano recentlyreceiveda lifetime ban from the MLB after betting on games.
Heappealed, and the charges were eventually dismissed when the alleged victim did not attend court.
He wasnotre-signed by the Panthers but was snatched up by the Cowboys, though he wassuspendedfor four games.

The Cowboys did not re-sign him, and his career with the NFL ended.
He eventually left football playing behind in 2006 and turned to coaching.
He hasnot been signedto a team since his 2016 season with the 49ers.
